Investigations of the heart

Calcium score

Preparation
None.

The process
The examination takes place in 1 session (30 min).

Main clinical indications

  • Assessment of coronary calcifications (coronary heart disease)

Principle
The cardiac CT allows localization and quantification of the calcifications on the coronary arteries (Calcium or Agatston score) without the need for injection of contrast agent. The calcium score makes it possible to stratify the risk of occurrence of cardiac events and to adapt the drug therapy.

The high calcium score (> 1000) reflects a high cardiovascular risk.
